Vintage Original 1920'2-1930's Antique RAWLINGS JAMES NAISMITH Leather 7-Lace BASKETBALL, VERY Rare! Dr. James Naismith endorsed very few items in his life. This is one of them. You can still read the RAWLINGS imprint on one side of the laces and "JAMES NAISMITH REG. U.S. PAT. OFC." on the other side of the laces.
All six leather panels are complete and the original stitching still holds. There is a bladder inside the ball.The leather is pliable wit...h no cracks or splits and with a new bladder, the basketball should attain its original shape.Rawlings started making basketballs in 1902. I've been unable to pinpoint the dates they manufactured the Naismith ball.
