Vintage Gates Sta-Level M-5167 RCA 6386 Tube Compressor Limiter Amp - Recapped. Legendary 1956 (6386) vintage Gates Sta-Level tube compressor. Lovingly serviced by David Kulka at Studio Electronics (one of the best in the business) and previously owned by NBC. I purchased it a few years back for a specific project from the drummer of the band Sweet, who had owned it for his private studio for sometime. It works great and sounds legendary. Nothing else like it exactly, not even the repr...oduction by Retro. It features seven tubes including the magical 3686 tube. I imagine that anyone who is interested in this knows exactly what it is, so I won’t bother going on about it. I hadn’t planned on selling it ever, but unfortunately, due to a close family member who has been given a short time to live, (pancreatic cancer) I need to rapidly come up with funds out of the blue. Anyway, you’ll never be sorry for buying this in my opinion. Please do note the pictures for normal scratches and ware. It’s in amazing shape for its age.
