Following the overproduction of cards f...rom the 80’s into the early 90’s, in 1996 Pinnacle unveiled its Select Certified set featuring the shortest-printed parallels ever produced with a mere (90) Mirror Red, (45) Mirror Blue and (30) Mirror Gold inserts created. Sealed boxes contained 20 packs with the Mirrors randomly inserted at a pack rate of 1:100 (Red), 1:200 (Blue), and 1:300 (Gold). As a parallel to the 144 card base set that meant to have found a specific player, one would have had to purchase and open an average of 14, 400 packs to obtain a Red, 28, 800 packs to obtain a Blue and 43, 200 packs to obtain a Gold!! Take that in for a moment…. Acknowledging and appreciating that the Mirrors are rare is unquestionable, but it gets even better as they are simply among the most visually stunning cards ever realized. Their luster and appeal can barely be qualified in words and still frame photos capture a limited scope when compared to seeing one live. The full color spectrum bursts from all angles and mesmerizes all of whom bear witness. A true work of art that has been the inspiration for all modern cards that have followed.
