Apple Macintosh Portable Computer M5126 (Backlit), Mouse & Power Supply.
Item History & Price
Up for auction is an Apple Macintosh Portable M5126 in excellent condition - the computer will turn on and boot with a chime and the screen comes on with the mouse cursor showing up. I am guessing that this requires a boot floppy disk, and since we don't have one no further testing could be carried out.
Comes with Apple Mouse.
We managed to get the computer to turn on by using a 7.5v third party power supply and third party 6.5 volt rechargeable lead acid ba...ttery (both not included). The original power supply that came with this unit does not work and is not included in this auction. The battery is also dead, so in the interest of saving weight for shipping, it's also not included. It seems that a refurbished battery can be purchased here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Generic-RECHARGEABLE-BATTERY-for-Vintage-Apple-Macintosh-Portable-m5120-m5126-/293128795846
The computer got as far as the screen and backlight coming on, and the cursor appearing, but not much else - I assume this means the computer needs a boot disk. Please do your own research on how to get this computer up and running.
No further testing has been done on this computer - this listing is for a used vintage computer, and as such it is sold as is, with no warranty implied or otherwise. Please take a look at the photos, what you see in the photos is exactly what you will get.
Externally, the computer seems like it is in good shape considering that it's from the late 80s early 90s. Some signs of light use but pretty good condition overall.
Computer was bought part of a lot, we have no details regarding this items history.
These don't come up for auction often, good luck and happy bidding.
Computer will be packed "box in a box" with extra padding. Please feel free to ask any questions!
Shipping will take about 1-2 weeks depending on your location. If you prefer, shipping by DHL / UPS is available. 100% Feedback Rating - we describe the item to the best of our ability and ship items out within 1 working day after payment.
Details on the Macintosh Portable:
Macintosh Portable M5126 was an updated version of previously released Macintosh Portable M5120 computer. The only major difference between the two models is the backlit LCD screen, which improved readability in both dark and bright locations. The trade-off for the brighter screen was reduced run time from single battery charge. It went down from 12 to 6 hours. Apple also used less expensive SDRAM chips in the later version, which allowed to lower the retail price.
