1986 GRiD GridCase 1520 Laptop
Some notes while examining:-The unit has a hard drive, but doesn't seem to recognize it. I'm not sure if the HDD has failed, or if it just needs to be configured properly in the BIOS, the drive spins up. The unit is able to boot from a floppy disk with MS-DOS as seen in pictures.
-The display is still very bright, however it has three black lines running across the screen. When the unit warms up, one of the black lines disappears, not sure if it can... be repaired or if the display has a permanent flaw
-There has been a repair attempt on the dallas rtc chip which needs to be replaced with another dallas chip or modded with an external cmos battery but the owner of it was unsuccessful, no issues caused by it the unit still works, the f1 to continue message is due to the old chip having a dead battery inside it.
-Minor damage found on one of the chassis posts inside the unit, can be rebuilt but its nothing that compromises the integrity of the chassis
-Minor damage on the plastic hinge on the right side of the unit, causes the screen to lift up a little crooked but if you press it towards you while lifting it will be aligned in the plastic track properly.
Some specs:-Has a 12MHz 286 processor.-Has 1MB of RAM (640K base + 384K extended)-Has a 1.44MB 3.5" internal floppy drive.-No longer has a battery. In the battery slot is an 80w power supply (see picture).-Will include a power cable, external usb floppy drive, and some floppy disks.
