TI - 99 PEB Peripheral Expansion PHP1200 W/Disk, 32K. Texas Instruments
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:51465517 | Model: Texas Instruments Ti-99/4A |
Brand: Texas Instruments | MPN: PHP1200 |
TI-99 PEB box as shown. Includes the flex cable/interface card, disk drive interface, and 32K card. Also includes a disk drive (it's a 1/2 height SS/DD with a full height face plate). Works on 110VAC (power cord included).
The case is in fair condition. The face is in very good shape, but the top is pretty scuffed up. Also, the rear corners of the frame were badly bent in shipping -- I bent them back somewhat so it's just a cosmetic issue. There...'s also a little plastic corner missing on the lid that holds it in place (see photo) -- not critical, but it will allow the lid to move forward and back on one side about 1/4 inch (you can see it skewed in the photos). Also note that the flex cable interface has a lot of rust on one piece, see photo -- this came from another lot cable, so it's not representative of the unit as a whole.
The good news is that this seems to be a later model with a toggle power switch (much better than those push-buttons that get sticky), and the fan is super quiet.
The unit has been tested with a TI-99/4A computer (NOT INCLUDED) and seems to work fine -- using Disk Manager (not included), it can initialize and backup disks, and the disk test passes. It will load and run the programs on the included disks (most of which will also need an Extended BASIC cartridge or Tunnels of Doom cartridge, not included).
I'm including 3 disks that were made on another system (but tested here). Once contains various programs, I believe in Extended BASIC (not included), like Eliza and Dragonmaze. Another one contains various dungeon data files for the Tunnels of Doom cartridge (not included). You can see the director of these disks in the photos. The 3rd one has some arcade games like Miner 2049er (boot with Extended Basic and you can select the game from a menu).
Guaranteed to work as described, but beyond that it's AS IS -- this old equipment can fail at any time, the drive might be knocked out of alignment in shipping, etc. I'm putting a scratch disk in it for shipping to keep the heads from bouncing.
A couple shipping options listed... it's heavy, and will be packed carefully in an oversize box to prevent physical damage.
