I don't have a lot of information about these dressers. They were my mom's before she died. (You can see white powder on them. She was a cat person, and this was to kill any fleas.) I don't know anything about them except that they were old and in the family at least a generation before she was even born, and she was born in 1941. All the drawers fit and slide open without any sticking. Th...e joints are all still good. There is no structural damage to them. No bending, no warping. No heat damage, no moisture damage. These are SOLID. There is no veneer. The finish you see is the wood itself. They are made of an unknown hardwood and crafted by experts. You will need more than a couple of people to move these. I haven't had them appraised, but $200 each ($400 for both to start) is CHEAP. These are hand-carved. Furniture this solid, this sturdy, this *beautiful* is rare and valuable. Here are the rules.
1.) LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. You can drive as far as you like for them, but under NO circumstance will these be shipped. 2.) LAST CHANCE OPT-OUT. Because you cannot see the quality of build in the pictures, and you may have doubts, I will make this concession: if you win the auction and come to pick them up, and they are not the high quality I am promising, or somehow they don't meet your approval, I will agree to cancel and re-list. No money will change hands, no troublesome feedback left, no hard feelings.3.) PAYMENT AT PICKUP. Because you will be picking up the furniture in person, I much prefer that the payment be made AT THE TIME OF PICKUP. This way, you aren't taking a chance with your money and I won't have to go through the hassle of refunding you if you are in any way disappointed. Cash, of course, is preferred. 4.) THESE ARE EXTREMELY HEAVY. You will need more than two people to carry these, unless your two people are mighty.5.) NO, I WILL NOT SPLIT THESE UP. Buy both or buy neither. Them's the rules.6.) IF YOU WANT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY, BE PREPARED TO FORK UP. I may not know the provenance of these dressers, but I know that $400 for both is CHEAP. Don't lowball me. Just don't. If you want to end the auction early, you'd better be offering at least 4 digits.7.) GETTING THEM DOWN WILL BE A MONSTER. They are upstairs in my house, and the stairs are a steep, narrow 14 steps with a sharp turn at the bottom. However, they got up there, so they can get down. At the bottom of the stairs is a door to the back porch with a door to the outside. You will probably have to carry them out through the back porch. I WILL NOT HELP. I am physically infirm and cannot.8.) ONCE YOU'VE HANDED OVER THE MONEY, THEY'RE YOURS. No refunds. No buyer's remorse. No second-guessing. 9.) BRING A BIG TRUCK AND YOUR OWN PADDING. These things are about six feet wide, between 12" and 18" deep, and about 4'/5' high. I am not providing any materials for moving them. Everything about transporting them is up to you.10.) IF YOU WANT THEM APPRAISED, YOU PAY FOR THE APPRAISERS AND ARRANGE THE VISIT. I'll be honest. These two dressers are probably worth over $1, 000 apiece, but I don't have the money to pay for an appraiser and I just want them to be gone. I'm not losing anything in the sale, but I'm giving up potential hundreds just for the simplicity of selling them and having someone pick them up. 11.) DON'T ASK ME FOR DETAILS. Don't send me messages asking what year they were built, who the builder was, what the wood is, what the style is, anything like that. I don't know. I just know they are big, beautiful, well-made antique dressers from probably the 19th century and that they will probably survive a nuclear blast.12.) YES, THE MIRROR IS INCLUDED. That mirror is worth several hundred on its own.
If you need more pictures, send me a message and I'll take some more. Open some drawers up if you want, get some close-ups of the joints if you like. I'll be helpful that way.
Please understand these rules are for both of us. Thank you for your consideration.
