THE KINGS MEASURE 5 5/8 INCHES AND THE QUEENS MEASURE 5 1/2 INCHES. THIS CHESS SET IS ALL HANDMADE BY THE ARTISTS OF ANRI – AND THE QUALITY SHOWS IN EVERY DETAIL. IT'S LIKE GETTING 32 MASTERWORK CARVINGS AT ONCE. THE WOODEN BOX THAT HOLDS THE CHESS PIECES MEASURES 17 1/2" X 14" X 5 1/2". THIS CHESS SET IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Vintage Anri hand carved and hand painted Montsalvat full gold chess set. Named after the castle where the Holy Grail is kept, in the legend of "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table". This set is the highest end offered full gold, with generous use of gold and silver leaf on all the pieces.
It has never been displayed or played, only looked at some over the years. From my research, this set sold for well over $12, 000.00 retail.
Offered here is a beautifully hand-carved and hand-painted figural full Gold Anri Monsalvat Chess Set, original Anri The chessmen represent King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The chess pieces are finished in an 18 carat gold application. The name of the chess set is taken from the castle where the Holy Grail is housed in the legend of “King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table”. Each of the chessmen is magnificently hand-carved and painted. The finely hand carved 18 carat gold Anri Monsalvat Chess pieces are crafted from alpine maple and are hand-painted and gilded, the bases are lightly weighted and the pieces are felted. Two The chessmen are housed in their original fitted Teak display case. The Monsalvat Medieval chess set is the most famous of the Anri chess sets. Anri chessmen are 100% made in Italy for those who can appreciate the true value of these magnificent artistic chessmen.
