HERE IS A c1900 (1890-1910) TRANS...ITIONAL ERA NAVAJO GERMANTOWN RUG / SAMPLER / "WHISKEY BLANKET", MOST LIKELY FROM THE GANADO REGION OF THE RESERVATION, IT IS HAND WOVEN WITH ALL / 100% ANTIQUE GERMANTOWN WOOLS.
This BLANKET/RUG is hand woven from primarily fine looking red, dark brown and olive green Germantown Wools, as well several fine looking and colorful GT Wools for selvage. The design is traditional Central and Repeating Chevrons on a Ganado Red field. This colorful pattern grabs the eye and is an interesting looking piece of Native America to display in your home or cabin - A Fine and Rare Piece of Native America !!!
The size of this textile is approximately 19 1/2" X 18", with a Cotton Warp of about 18, and a Wool Weft of about 40. A beautifully designed and well constructed piece of Native America! CONDITION: EXCELLENT FOR AGE!!! The wools within this rug are in great condition, still have plenty of luster and sheen. There is NO Fading, NO Bleeding, and NO Stains, NO Holes. The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact, See pics, top selvage is a fine looking twist of purple and beige GT Wools, the bottom selvage is black/brown GT Wools and a short warp fringe. The sides have a cotton selvage. The 4 corners are in excellent shape, and 3/4 corner ties are present with minor wear due to age/time/use.
