This wonderful Sioux Indian Tobacco Bag is sinew sewn by hand with beadwork decoration featuring red white-heart, chalk white, pea green and cobalt blue trade beads. T...he entire Tobacco Bag is hide including the throat and the bottom edge features quill wrapped, stiff hide strips finished with a long buckskin fringe. The Bag features a large beaded panel measuring 8” by 8 1/2” that cover both the front and the back of the Pipe Bag.

It is NOT a reproduction or modern recreation but an original Sioux Pipe Bag crafted in the third quarter 19th century. This very rare and very beautiful, ca1880’s Sioux Indian Bead and Quill Decorated Tobacco Bag is in very good condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved – supple and sound with no damage or repairs of any kind. The beadwork is exceptionally beautiful and well preserved on both sides of the Bag with some small and unobtrusive spot of loss at the edge as can be seen in the scans below. The hide strips at the bottom of the Bag are present although there is some loss the quill wrap as can be seen in the scans below. The buckskin fringe at the very bottom is well preserved. (again as can be seen in the scans below).
All elements of the Tobacco Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations - this wonderful 19th century Sioux Tobacco / Pipe Bag is 100% original and 100% beautiful.
