A wonderful neoclassic figural group modeled as cupid playing the lyre for a mermaid within a giant clam shell. Exquisite modeling and painting. Hallmarked on the underside with the cross swords in underglaze blue, together with incised "g. 148", and impressed "121", and the gilder's mark which appears to be "7.".
Dimensions: 6 1/4" tall x 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". 2 pounds.
Condition: Very good with... exception of loss to tip of lyre, otherwise no damage or repair. Manufacturing flaws typical of the period are seen.
