This is a fascinating & scarce 1888 presidential campaign Benjamin Harrison & Levi P. Morton Company Victorian advertising trade card. This card promotes the presidential & vice presidential candidates Harrison & Morton on the front of the card. On the back of the card "Stoutenburgh & Co. Newark Clothiers" is advertised & some of their product prices are listed. The wording: "Copyright 1888" is marked at the bottom front edge. Also along the front bottom edge is... the printer's or designer's name: "Gast N. Y." The clothing company advertised on the card was located in Newark, N. J.
The card measures 5 inches by 3 1/2 inches. There is minor wear & slight age soiling There are a couple of small creases to the corners. There is small subtle 1/8 inch tear at the right border. There is a very thin vertical printing flaw (in the making) through Harrison's head. The back of the card shows no signs of ever having been mounted which is a considerable plus to the value. The colors are excellent & unfaded.
