Vintage Conn 10M Tenor Saxophone 1949 “Naked Lady” All Original For my 16th birthday in April of 1949, I purchased this Conn 10M saxophone new at Jack’s Drum Shop in Boston, MA. The serial number 336223 checks out as 1949 and it has been in my possession in its hard case for these past 70 years (mostly in the attic). I realize that I should have bought the 10M a year or so sooner because they had the rolled tone holes, but back then at age 16, what did I... know. It is in original condition and has never been played much. I have never replaced anything, only wiping it with a dry cloth from time to time. The pads appear to be ok (the sax does play) and the original lacquer looks quite good. There are a few dark spots here and there (I have taken many photos). Also, the piece has a few (I found 3) tiny pin head size dents and a couple about 1/8” long but that’s about all. I tried to take very good care of it.  Also included: the case; a Brilhart 3*Ebolin mouthpiece; its metal cover; a two band ligature, and the strap. All originals purchased at the same time. I will include a few reeds from a couple of years later. I only took a few lessons to start so became self-taught. I enjoyed playing in a 4 piece dance band during the summer months for four or five years. Neither my school nor my college had a band so the summers were really my only time to play. I contacted several of the top stores, sending them photos: Saxquest, USA horns, PM winds, and Tenor Madness. I wanted to see if they were interested in purchasing it. They all were very interested but after they did a full overhaul, it would not have left me very much. As to a price, were I to list on eBay, one of them said: “Looking at where we have sold those in the last several years $1800 or a bit more is most likely where it would ultimately sell.” The buyer pays $50.00 for shipping (for my piece of mind it will be insured). I have arranged to take it to the local UPS store where they will carefully pack and ship it. I shall send the tracking number at that time.
