Original Description:
LARGE RARE EARLY 18TH CENTURY NEW ENGLAND WROUGHT IRON LADLE WITH "BEAN" SHAPED BOWL IN GREAT OLD SURFACE. Possibly earlier. This ladle measures about 23 3/4"  long with a 6 1/2" x 5 1/2" oblong diameter "Bean" shaped bowl.  If it was used for cooking, it must have been for an Army as this is a LARGE ladle. I'm thinking it would have been for outside usage with a large kettle for Lye soap, Maple Syrup,   etc.  It is one piece of hand forged wrought iron. Some ladles... have a separate bowl and handle riveted together of different metal types.  This is one piece all iron. It has a nice rattail hanging loop at the top. Super old piece with patina sought after by Colonial Era / Revolutionary War  Collectors. There is some lamination (separation of the metal) in the bowl but it doesn't go through the bowl. It was not caused by rusting out and it was probably used exactly as it still is.See the photos for the best description.I only ship within the USA, no international shipping. This will be carefully packaged.  I've been a Ebayer since 2008 with 100% feedback.
