Offered here is a solid 4/4 Violin from 1900 which bears a label Made in Germany on the bottom. The back measures 14 1/4 inches. This violin has no real problems other than a well repaired and holding crack running from the left f hole to the bottom, no where near the bass bar or sound post. There are the usual scuffs and scrapes to the varnish one would expect from a violin this age. The violin came to me with old strings on it. Even so...the sound is big. New strings would make the so...und robust! The violin has excellent construction. The wood is excellent medium spruce on the table (top) and fantastic flamed maple on the ribs, back, neck. The pegs are a little sticky and graphite or peg dope is recommended. I estimate the violin was made in or around 1900 in Mittenwald Germany. Violin shops in the USA might retail this violin for more than $1, 200. Look up Christopher Reutinger on Google to know your seller. I have appraised violins for State Farm for over 45 years and this violin is really worth $1, 200. The violin is sold as is and as pictured. The violin comes WITHOUT BOW OR CASE. It will be shipped securely by USPS Ground unless you need it sooner. What you see is what you get. Be sure before you bid and ask questions. This auction is meant for the USA only. Overseas shipping is available for an extra $80.
