The calcite crystals are a tan color. They rest on a nondescript, non-fluorescing matrix of another kind of calcite.
The fluorescence under shortwave ultraviolet light exposure [pictures 1-5] is really blinding. A very bright orange color. The bottom surface does not fluoresce.
There is no Longwave or midwave fluorescence so, no pictures.
It weighs 42 grams and measures approximately 2 x 1 3/4 x 3/4 inches.As with any fluorescent mineral, the more powerfu...l the illuminating lamp, the brighter the fluorescence.

Flashlights and ultraviolet lamps that purport to provide shortwave and longwave lighting plus a flashlight [and maybe even a can opener] and cost $39.99 will not adequately fluoresce most minerals. Neither will very low wattage shortwave lamps. The filter is the most expensive component of a lamp and for that price it will not be a quality filter - it will either permit too much visible light to pass through or not enough ultraviolet light. Either way you lose.4. Some items will only fluoresce under shortwave ultraviolet light. Others only under longwave. My listings will indicate which wavelengths permit fluorescence and which do not.5.
