Stunningly beautiful, ca1950’s Native American Plains / Comanche Indian Bead Decorated Pipe Stem.
This ca1950’s Beaded Pipe Stem measures approx. 15 3/4” long and features an all over, brain tanned hide wrap which is fully bead decorated with a repeating, peyote stitch pattern executed using multi-colored glass seed beads.
Our best guess is that it was made in the mid 20th century as a replacement for a cherished catlinite or... steatite pipe bowl. The workmanship is outstanding and the Stem displays beautifully.
This very beautiful, ca1950’s Bead Decorated Pipe Stem is in excellent condition. The Stem is well preserved with no significant wear and no damage and no repairs of any kind. It is carved from a single piece of wood and is stunningly beautiful. The beadwork is exceptionally well preserved with no loss or damage of any kind. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the form and condition of this outstanding Plains / Comanche Beaded Pipe Stem.
