Very rare and original, ca1910’s Native American Plateau / Nez Perce Indian Bead Decorated Hide Belt Pouch. This outstanding early 20th century Nez Perce Belt Pouch measures approx. 4 1/4" long overall and 3 1/2" wide at its widest point. The decoration is a beautiful, shimmering floral design.
This wonderful Plateau Pouch is thread sewn and made of a supple, smoke tanned hide and features an image of a rose on the front panel. The decoration is executed us...ing multi-colored, Charlotte colored beads giving the surface a brilliant, eye catching shine. The Bag has a flap closure on the front andretains its original rawhide tie closure and belt hanger.

This very rare and original, ca1910’s Nez Perce Bead Decorated Belt Pouch is in excellent condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved - supple and sound with surface soiling but no damage or repairs of any kind. The beadwork is also well preserved with no damage or loss. The Bag retains its original rawhide thong tie closures and rawhide belt hanger. All elements of the Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations.
