Weight is approximately 300 pounds.**This c...orner cupboard was built for my great-grandmother (1884-1961) by an unknown craftsman, likely between 1911, when she married, and 1915. Family legend says it was made from chestnut trees on the family farm in the area of Webster County, WV, formerly known as Bernardstown (between Webster Springs and Bergoo). My grandmother inherited it in 1961, and my own mother upon her mother’s death in 1986.It was refinished in the 1970s, when my grandmother had the dark finish removed and it was restored to a more natural tone.My mother is now in a nursing home, and this piece will not fit in my home. It is time for it to become another family’s heirloom. The corner cupboard measures 73 inches tall and 56 inches wide and requires 33 inches on each wall.
Unusual CrownIt is possible that the façade of the cabinet was shortened in order to make it possible to fit through the doorways in my grandparents’ home.It was typical to shorten the crowns of large pieces in order for them to fit in homes with lower ceilings and doorways.
Measurements -This massive corner cupboard would be the focal point of any room.
