Very rare and original, ca1890’s Pair of Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Hide Moccasins.
This outstanding Pair of late 19th century, Sioux Beaded Youth’s or woman’s Moccasins each measure approx. 7 1/2" long at their stiff, parfleche hide soles. Each Moccasin features duplex cross form decoration on the vamps cobalt blue, translucent green, yellow and red colored beads. These wonderful Sioux Moccasins are sinew sewn and feature contiguous cu...ffs and applied tongues. Both Moccasins have a vertical split on the right hand side with an old semi-repair – this may have been done purposefully to accommodate the larger or perhaps swollen feet of the original owner.
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Sioux Moccasins crafted around in the late 19th century. This rare and original, Pair of ca1890’s Sioux Youth’s or Woman’s Bead Decorated Moccasins are in very good condition. The hide elements are generally well preserved – slightly stiffened and with small, old repairs at the seams. As stated above, both Moccasins have a vertical split on the right hand side with an old semi-repair – this may have been done purposefully to accommodate the larger or perhaps swollen feet of the original owner. The beadwork is very well preserved with no loss or damage of any kind.
