BEFORE YOU BID- PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:We reached many people and collectors regarding this textile prior to listing it, and all believe that it is a rank badge worn on the sleeve of a robe OR a piece that would be sown into a bag that would be worn with a robe; HOWEVER, please refer to your knowledge over ours- not much information is out there about it so it is hard to 100% verify it.
Offered here today is a remarkable antique Chinese textile!Probably 18th or 19th Century- Qing... Dynasty, embroidered badge (PLEASE READ BELOW)- Featuring early tambour (Chain) stitching embroidery of a red crown crane (the symbol of 1st rank) against a dark navy background, surrounded by clouds.Each cloud and even the crane itself are framed with gold tone and silver tone wire.Unlike other badges, this one is small- measures only approx 9.2 cm x 8.2 cm (The framed picture itself).DUE TO its small size- we believe that this is probably a badge that went on the sleeve- lower arm section.However, we haven't found many examples of arm badges so please refer to your knowledge over ours.The condition is absolutely amazing! There are several loose threads but the overall condition for its age is remarkable!
