Presenting a fine quality Sinotibetan gilt bronze Buddha figure of good size but indeterminate age. Dimensions are 10 inches tall by 7 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Rough estimate of weight is about 4 lbs. but this is just a guess (will try to weigh it later). Has very fine details and retains a good amount of its original gilding. Signs of wear and tear and scattered loss of gilding as to be expected in item of this nature. Please study images carefully (photos taken in natural light... without any enhancement).I bought this some ten years or so ago from a reputable dealer who described it as a 17th/18th century piece and paid around 7K for it. However, since I’m the one selling it now, I prefer to be conservative and not take chances. I know from what I’ve heard and seen before that the exact age of Chinese gilt bronzes can be difficult to assess, and there are a lot of fakes on the market. I don’t want to risk unintentionally deceiving anyone, because that would really bother me. THEREFORE: I’m only willing to sell this as a decorative item, and say that it may not be any older than, say, 1950. I suspect it is older than that—could it possibly be circa 1910 or a little earlier?—but I think better to assume later rather than earlier. Honestly I don’t have a clue about the exact age. So if you wish to buy it, think of it as a later production piece, and bid accordingly. Also, you can always have your own expert look at the pics (in fact I encourage you to do so). Anyways, even as a decorative item, it’s a beautiful piece and I think well made. I’ve decided to make this a no-reserve auction and start the bidding at $500. I suspect I will lose a lot of money on it. Well, so be it. Life’s that way sometimes. I hope it goes to someone who will enjoy it.About Me: I am a retired professional and longtime avid collector of art and antiques: paintings, both American and European; Asian art, both Chinese and Japanese (and some Korean); fine porcelain; folk art and many other items. Years ago I sold on eBay as well and had many happy and satisfied customers (I had a perfect rating). I only deal in genuine and high quality items, I have no interest in junk. If I don’t know something about a piece—and there is much I do not know about all kinds of things—I will state so plainly. I want you to be happy with your purchase.*please note that I do not guarantee the condition of the frame on any paintings I list; if there is any serious damage or instability I will certainly mention it but otherwise expect there to be some imperfections and look carefully at the images.** please ask for shipping/insurance quote after the auction if you are the winner. The flat rate quoted in this listing is only an estimate, I can only provide exact amount after auction when shipping address provided (I can provide rough estimate if you contact me beforehand). Insurance is mandatory. I only charge what the shipper charges me (and sometimes less than that).***All sales are final sales. Please ask all your questions well in advance of the auction’s end; I am happy to answer them and will do my best to do so. I am downsizing from a large collection of fine paintings and antiques, and I do not accept returns unless I have made some astonishing error, which is highly unlikely. (I will be the sole judge of what is “astonishing.”)****Nonpaying bidders will be reported to eBay and banned from participating in any of my future auctions.Payment by wire transfer to my bank is preferred.*GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AT MY AUCTIONS*On Jan-17-21 at 14:42:55 PST, seller added the following information:https://app.photobucket.com/u/jmark1900/a/211925cc-a5aa-4e04-9c9b-7c359929bce4/p/895560ab-f71f-4b8b-b159-fbcc3364e720”>
