Description/Interesting Notes: An extraordinary, and large, example of ruby with diopside, dravite, and phlogopite from New Jersey!!!  This large and impressive specimen is an amazing example of ruby corundum for New Jersey - the color is simply off the ch...arts - and INTENSE magenta with marked translucence as well!!!  There are numerous areas of intensely colored ruby scattered about the specimen with the largest continuous crystal measuring 5.5cm!!!  As if the ruby wasn't enough - it is aesthetically set in a green diopside matrix in association with areas of massive, amber colored dravite and well formed phlogopite crystals!!!  There are also some small areas of brassy metallic pyrrhotite scattered about as well!!!  This specimen exhibits impressive fluorescence under SW UV as well - with the ruby showing intense magenta-red fluorescence, the diopside showing intense blue-white fluorescence, the dravite showing amber colored fluorescence, and the phlogopite showing a more yellowish-amber fluorescence!!!  This specimen is simply incredible in person!!!  This specimen is from the collection of George Elling!!!  The pics hardly do it justice!!!  Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
