For auction is a cast iron housing for a Union Switch and Signal MC-1 Motorcar Indicator. This type of motorcar indicator was installed at railroad switches and signal locations for track and signal workers to view if there was going to be a approaching train movement. This housing would have contained a relay with a round face indicator with three dots that, when vertical, signaled no train. When horizontal, there was a train coming and they needed to clear the track, or not enter it.... These indicators were used by several different railroads including the Santa Fe, Spokane Portland & Seattle, Union Pacific, etc.I have included two photos from the catalog page of these indicators showing the housing withnthe installed mechanism, which is not included. The winning bidder will be sent a PDF copy of these catalog pages, as good reference material.The housing is in excellent condition. It is approximately 15" tall, 11" wide and 11" deep and weighs 39 pounds. It is in perfect condition, no breaks, cracks or defects. It does NOT include a relay that displays the indication inside, and is just a empty housing. The bottom mounting socket accepts a 2.25" OD pipe.
