I have given great thought of what to do with my arrowhead frames.
They have been storage for over a year, so what's the sense of keeping them.
I have set up a sorting table, microscope, and good lights in our storage unit,
and we will begin listing pieces soon, as its time to find them a new home.
So... here are a few of the nicer pieces:Description:
Here is another outstanding- simply beautiful Clovis, from Oldham Co., TX.
...>This is as beautifully - diagonally Impact-flaked, Texas Clovis as one is apt to see, these days !
It was found by Sam Sanders from along the lower Horse Creek, 1/4 mile NW of the Oldham Co. Gravel Yard, in 1926.
and was very highly used, and re-sharpened many times in antiquity. But for its trip to Breckenridge, has only been handled by the original folks who made & used it,
OR in the frame of the finder, or in my safe deposit box - ONLY.
These Texas Clovis I have, are all Virgin to the marketplace !!!
where no one, not even me (in a retirement condo) can enjoy it anymore.
This Clovis has fantastic parallel flaking, killer material, great looks, and is in "as-made" condition,
(ie: workmanship was performed ONLY by ancient knappers)Condition Overview:
A BEAUTIFULLY-MADE; 13, 000 - 11, 400 year-old CLOVIS !
This Clovis Spear was a 6" - 8" long Knife, when first manufactured, which after maybe decades of service,
was re-sharpened along the rails, and then had its stem tapered, all to support its usage as a 'Thrusting' Spear (or possibly a Dagger form).
This would have been (according to its cross-section, and girth), probably a "thrusting Spear", and probably not an Atlatl point.
These types may have been used at close range to bring the beasts down, after hours of battling it with atlatls to weaken and confuse it.
These thrusting spears (and Dagger types) were thought to have been used expressly for the "Coup de gras"of Mastodons, huge Bears & Buffalos, etc.Measurements:
4-3/4" of THIN, Hi-Grade Edwards Plateau Chert material from western/central Texas.COA: Breckenridge - 2019.Grade: 10 - Resharpened in Antiquity!Condition: As-Made / As-Found Grade-10 condition.
