This listing is for the hand carved Rick Williams and painted totem pole that you see in the photos. I purchased it from an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told its history. It signed “Tribe NITANAT” on one area on the back of the pole and “18” Hand Carved by Rick Williams. Mosquito Wolf Beaver. Tribe Nitanat.” in another area on the back of the pole. I do not know how old it is. I think that it might be old enough to be considered vintage. Some research tells me that R...ick Williams was born in 1955 in the state of Washington and that Nitanat Tribe inhabit the Western edge of Vancouver Island, Canada. I do not know if it was made in Washington or Vancouver Island. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is and where it was made. Not including the base, the totem pole measures close to 18 1/8 inches tall. With the base, it measures close to 19 ¾ inches tall. The base measures close to 5 3/8 by 5 1/8 inches. Totem pole and base together weigh close to 2 pounds .4 ounces. There is a “Brief History of the Totem Pole” taped to the underside of the base. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. I see some lightly dusty areas on the totem pole especially in difficult to reach areas. It might benefit from a light cleaning. Otherwise, the pole is in excellent condition with no damage. When I purchased it, there was a dark spot on the base that I cleaned off. Doing so, left the wood in that area looking too light so I decided to put some wood restorer on it. That darkened it. Then I noticed that some of restorer on got on a rough side of the base and very much darkened it. So, I put the wood restorer on the entire base and made the rough sides dark as you see them. There were dark spots on the rough sides that I did not understand that you can see in the two photos after the 16 photos of the pole as it is now. Those two photos were taken before I applied the wood restorer. Please know that I think that I was being stupid. Still, I think that it looks better now than it did. Otherwise, base and pole are fine and as shown. I guarantee this totem pole to be as described and represented by the 16 photos after the general description. The last two photos (after the 16) are of the base before it was altered. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them. Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.
