Original Description:

Happy summer, everyone.
It's Friday, June 21st, and I'm writing this from a cottage near Stonehenge, where I'm waiting patiently for the solstice. Just kidding. It's Sunday, June 23rd, and I'm writing this from my living room in North Carolina, where I'm staring out at my neighbor's driveway, watching his German Shepard chase a skink. I lead an exciting life.
Not to be outdone by my last batch of listings, I've got 6 more outstanding auctions for you this we...ek, each showcasing an ancient example of what happens when art gets intermingled with industry. So when you're finished here, make sure to check out my other listings. Here's an all-original Edison Triumph cylinder phonograph with a desirable banner-style cabinet decal; a complete, original (and working) shaving assembly; and an original 14" witch's hat horn.
The banner-front Triumph "A, " the successor to Edison's Spring Motor Phonograph, was the first in a 12-year-long run of Triumphs that ended in 1913 with the short-lived Triumph "G".  Like all Triumphs, the "A" was a large, rugged, well-built machine with an enormous motor capable of playing multiple cylinders with a single winding.
This example is in outstanding condition throughout, and it will arrive at your doorstep ready to play and enjoy.
Original Japanned finish on the casting is still deep black and glossy, and the original gold pinstriping is still prominent -- almost perfect. The motor is strong, with ample torque, and the phonograph has no trouble making it through several cylinders with a single winding.  The governor assembly is working properly, and the pitch doesn't waver as a cylinder plays through.  All of the gearing beneath the bedplate is clean. The square hole, cast iron crank is original, and it's in great shape too.
The oak cabinet is beautiful, close to mint.  Cabinet finish is original throughout, and it's in excellent condition -- still smooth to the touch. The cabinet decal is original, and it too is in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and minimal wear.  Excellent, heavy duty butt joints, with no swelling or damage.  No damage to the base molding. A tiny veneer chip in lid, but otherwise almost like new everywhere.
The original "C" reproducer is in excellent condition, with a good sapphire, a good diaphragm and good gaskets. It sounds great, too.  The 14" witch's hat horn is an early original brass and black horn, and it's in excellent condition, with excellent original paint, no dents or other damage, and the original lacquer still intact on the brass bell.

I'll include with the phonograph an excellent early Edison wax cylinder record in excellent condition, so the phonograph will be ready to play as soon as it arrives.

Overall, an exceptionally nice, extremely collectible red banner Home cylinder phonograph that needs nothing to be enjoyed immediately.

I've been selling and shipping antique phonographs, antique radios and antique scientific apparatus for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you'll receive a phonograph that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), and you'll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won't be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works.  Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.

If you're bidding from overseas, please contact me in advance for a shipping quote. The phonograph is large and heavy, and it cannot be shipped to some countries. Therefore, I will need to confirm my ability to ship it to you before you place a bid. Auction participants with no prior feedback should contact me before placing a bid.

That's about it.  Buyer prepays and includes shipping. On Jun-24-19 at 08:23:20 PDT, seller added the following information:Just noticed an old hairline repair to the left front corner pillar (side). Cabinet is otherwise fine and structurally sound everywhere.
