Australian tektite from near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia
Believed to have been caused by a meteorite impact from near Cambodia nearly 700, 000 years ago.
Tektites are very rare and hard to come by. This very nice specimen was found by a gold prospector (who I met), who sold it to me. Now it is your turn!
This specimen is approximately 30 mm x 25 mm x 15 mm and has a mass of 15.0g, which is very big for an Australite (but... not the more common Indochinites). I have tried to photograph the tektite from every different angle. The grid squares are 1mm x 1mm in the background (to give an indication of scale).
The specimen is a a disk-shaped core - slightly oblong - likely to be caused by the slight spinning on the molten rock after impact whilst in flight.
I combine postage, if you win multiple lots.
Postage is sent untracked, unless requested. * Domestic postage (to Australian addresses) is $2.75 standard mail, or $8 with tracking and insurance.* International postage is $3.30 without insurance or tracking, at your risk (untracked but with the customs declaration). Tracking is usually $21 - $30, depending on the country.
Tracking for both domestic and international mail is highly recommended, otherwise the risk of loss (for taking the cheaper postage) is at your risk.
Good luck bidding!
