Old NAVAJO NAVAHO Germantown Rug/Weaving. Tight. Stepped Crosses.
Item History & Price
Condition issues include the following:
1. 23 holes/thin areas. All but one of these areas are in the "salt and pepper" yarns. So, for whatever reason, it seems that... the "salt and pepper" yarns are susceptible to unusual wear (photo #3).
2. The perimeter is 78% intact with roughly 36" of broken or missing edge cord. Two corner tassels are present but show wear; 2 tassels are missing.
3. This Navajo rug has several spots and stains. There is also some color loss and run. (See photos)
Both sides are pictured.
Lazy lines throughout. c. 1890s. 4' 1 1/2" x 2' 10". This classic old Navajo textile shows its age but still offers an interesting glimpse of a pre-1900 Germantown weaving. Offered here with NO reserve.
Please request additional photos if needed.
