Small but very detailed Model Totem Pole by late Ray Williams from the Nuuh-chah-nulth First Nationscedar, so very detailed - the wood is stained light and it's easy recognizable as one of the poles by the famous Williams Family. His father, Sam Williams had begun mentoring his son Ray early on, who would later become the unlikely family prodigy. In 1950, at age 17, Ray met Ida Edwards from the Cowichan Tribe. Ida's family had a long artistic tradition as well. Ray’s developed an encyclopedic memory of 250 totem designs, and from an early age he worked hard at his craft.
