This is a pair of single-mounted Kelly Bros. 4-heart (model #70) spurs. They have the standard model #70 pattern of three non-engraved nickel silver hearts on an engraved brass background mounted on 3/4-inch heel bands with swinging buttons with the outer button being a nickel silver engraved heart (hence four hearts). The 2.5-inch shank has alternating engraved nickel silver and brass mountings on the outer side with a 2.5-inch, 20-point (#39) rowel. The spurs measur...e 3.5 inches across at the ends of the heel bands. Not having any provenance on these spurs, I cannot say what their exact age is. Though they could have been made in the Dalhart, TX, shop after the end of the KB&P partnership, I would speculate they were made in El Paso which would stretch from 1924 until 1939. They were used so there are some dings on the heel band heart mountings, but other than that they are in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. The spur leathers are stamped with a basket weave design. I am sure they are newer than the spurs. They show use but no tears.
