Description/Interesting Notes: A unique, OLD time example of aquamarine from Brazil!!! This specimen consists of a robust, pristmatic, hexagonal crystal of aquamarine that exhibits gemmy clarity and particularly fine blue color!!! The crystal exhibits a unique, alluvial surface that... was more commonly seen in very old material!!! The termination actually hosts a partially included quartz crystal and, when viewed at the right angle in person one can see that it is a sharp, equant, pyramidal termination included within the aquamarine crystal!!! The rich blue color, combined with the unique, velveteen luster and gemmy clarity makes for a specimen that seems to have an almost "glowing" blue character in person!!! Very cool old time material!!! This specimen is from the collection of Dr. A. Lincoln Sherk II (1896-1970)!!! Dr. A. Lincoln Sherk was a noted Philadelphia area physician and friends with other notables Sam Gordon, Toothaker, and A.E. Foote among others!!! Dr. A. Lincoln Sherk, along with his wife, acquired an impressive collection and even created a small but significant private museum in their basement!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
