Grossular Garnet var. HessoniteJeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Québec, Canada7.35cm x 6cm x 1.55cmcollected May 1971
Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely gorgeous example of hessonite garnet from this famed Canadian locale!!! This specimen consists of what is essentially a large, floater cluster of sharp, glassy, gemmy crystals of peachy-orange grossular garnet var. hessonite!!! This specimen is completel...y crystalline all the way around!!! Aside from two slivers of matrix included within, light passes through the specimen in a most attractive fashion!!! The crystals range in size up to an impressive 1.5cm!!! This specimen retains a label from a noted collection with a note that it was collected May, 1971!!! Aside from a few trivial nics the specimen is nearly pristine and displays stunningly in person!!! A very fine Canadian beauty indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
