Epidote on Quartz included with AjoiteMessina Mine, Musina, Vhembe District, Limpopo, South Africa6.2cm x 2.4cm x 1.67cmEx. Bruce CairncrossEx. Bill Pinch Collection
Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of epidote from this famed South African locale!!! This specimen consists of a complex quartz crystal that hosts a rich showing of well formed epidote crystals on its surface and is included with a small amount of turqu...oise blue ajoite near the termination as well!!! The quartz crystal has sharp, glassy faces with marked translucence!!! The crystal is complete all around and the epidote is unusually well formed for the locale (as far as I understand, there were just a small number of good epidote associations collected in the late 80's and they all came through Bruce Cairncross)!!! This specimen is from the collection of Bill Pinch and retains its original label (dated 1987) as well as an old label from Bruce Cairncross!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
