Description/Interesting Notes: A very rare example of native gold from Maryland!!! Mineral specimens from Maryland are not well known among collectors, despite a handful of significant occurenes!!! Examples of native gold from Maryland are extremely rare and ne...xt to impossible to obtain!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of legendary Maryland collector Fred Parker!!! The Fred Parker Maryland collection was arguably one of the finest and most important collections of Maryland minerals ever assembled (I remember the first time we visited him I was flabbergasted at all the fine and exceptional specimens he had assembled from Maryland - having known very little of Marylands mineralogy up until that point)!!! This specimen hosts a trail of eye-visible masses of brilliant native gold on a darkly colored matrix of magnetite and quartz with some submillimeter balls of malachite scattered about!!! This specimen was actually personally collected by Fred Parker in an area that later became a state park and is no longer accessible to collectors!!!
