You are looking at a chance to own a once in a lifetime doll with Provenance ! This is a 24” inch automaton by Leopold Lambert and has incredible presence. In working condition! The music plays throughout . I have looked all over and see absolutely no damage to the bisque or body. He is wearing an incredible fine silk Marquis costume which I believe to be original as it fits like a glove . He has a bisque head, carton slender body , open mouth , with a beautiful mohair wig . He moves... his head side to side . He moves one hand to hold his cigarette holder to his mouth and his other hand holding a handkerchief moves up as well in sync with the music . The smoking “mechanism” does NOT smoke . He just moves as if smoking but Does not actually inhale or blow out smoke . WONDERFUL automaton all around! This doll is from the private collection of American Heiress Huguette Clark . A book titled “Empty Mansion” was recently released about her life.
