Matchlessantiques is offering smiths and collectors this NEAR MINT 200 lb. Cast Steel "COLUMBIAN" Blacksmith Anvil. It was made in Cleveland, OH. by The Columbian Hardware Company, which was believed to have been established around the early1890s. The Company was advertised to be the world's largest maker of Vises and Anvils. In May of 1926, the company incorporated as the Columbian Vise & Manufacturing Company. The Company is well known for quality blacksmith anvils and vises. Thi...s anvil is made out of solid cast steel and it has a nice clear ring. The face is flat and clean. The edges are near perfect. The hardy hole and pritchel hole look unused. Normally this anvil would have the Columbian Trademark, the letter C inside an inverted triangle, however, a former owner must have milled the upper half of the body most likely to clean up the edge and just enough to also remove the trademark. It does have the customary mold markings on the opposite side of the anvil. This is a NO RESERVE auction. You'll have a hard time finding another Columbian this size and this nice.
