It has a ca...rdboard tag sewn to the back of the neck (photo 3). The fabric is heavy weight; the whole garment photos are taken on a hanger and you can see that it has a lot of body to it. The photos show it front and back both right side and inside out so you can see the construction and placement of the Stifel stamps. Work wear made of Stifel indigo wabash stripe fabric is extremely rare to find in any condition, and almost unheard of in deadstock condition.
The seams are felled and double stitched. The ends of the sleeves have a bar tack at the cuff (photo 8, sleeves to the left, pant cuffs to the right). It fastens up the front with 4 metal donut hole buttons and there is one smaller button at the bottom fly area (photo 9). There are two pockets on the front.
It is tagged a size 16 (presumably for a 16 year old boy), but may also fit a small man or woman.
Since vintage sizing can vary, please use the actual measurements of the garment given below to determine if they will fit you. Compare these measurements to a similar item you have that fits well. Measurements are taken with the garment lying flat.
Shoulder to shoulder: (measured side to side at shoulder seam) = 15 inches
Sleeve length (measured from shoulder seam to end of sleeve cuff) = 15 1/2 inches
Neck Opening: (measured with tape measure along inside collar with collar buttoned) = 14 1/2 inches
Length of Upper Body: (measured from back of collar to top of waist band) = 16 inches
Waist: (measured side to side along band at waist) = 16 inches
Hips: (measured side to side at just above the start of the leg) = 17 1/2 inches. (This is about 1" below the bottom of the fly).
Rise: (measured from top of waist band to center crotch seam) = 11 inches
Inseam Length: (measured from center crotch seam to bottom of leg hem) = 21 inches
Width of thigh: (measured side to side below crotch seam) = 11 inches
Width of leg opening at cuff: (measured side to side at hem) = 7 1/2 inches
Overall Length of Garment: (measured from back of collar to bottom of pant leg) = 47 inches
It is very good condition, quite remarkable for an item of this age. The fabric is strong and there are no areas of fading and no rips or tears. There is a small scuff in the back of the neck just above the tag (photo 3) and a line of stitch holes next to the fly where some stitching that was a mistake was pulled out (photo 10). There is some minor storage dust in areas (photo 11) and a "dusty" smell, but no mildew or other objectionable odors. Some of the buttons are rusted and the rust has transferred to the adjacent fabric and the button holes and there is a small misweave in the fabric above the rust spot (photo 12).

I owned and operated a retail vintage shop specializing in the 1950's and 60's from 1998 until 2017 and have worked on the wardrobes of many period films and television programs. I recently transitioned to a studio and continue the business via appointment, online, and at events. I took great pride in my "brick and mortar" shop and would have loved for you to visit; Ebay is one way I can still share it with you.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I'll do my best to get an answer to you quickly. If there is something special from the 1950's or 60's that you collect or have been looking for, please let me know (it may be in the back somewhere...) and I may be able to list it for you.
