If you want a completely untouched, straight-up honest example of Mason’s highest grade production, this one’s for you! Up for auction is a beautiful Mason factory, hollow Premier Grade Drake Canvasback, Detroit, ca. 1910. Of course, it shows some wear from use including rubs to the bill, top of the head and end of the tail. Those painter’s brush swirls that collectors covet so much are on full display on this one (see close-up photos).  ...;There are few shot marks evident on the body and head, and a very tight age check on the back that you really have to look for to see. There is a slight separation at the neck seam with a small bit of flaking in that area. The paint is very strong on this decoy and it exhibits great scalloping around the breast up onto the back. It has nice feather loops back near the tail. Take a close look at the pictures of this rare bird. You just won’t find many top grade Mason decoys like this that haven’t been embellished in some way. This one even has the original oval lead weight on the bottom. Not sure why we’re not just keeping this one! Measures 16” long; 5-3/4” wide; and 6-3/4” tall. Please ask questions or for more pictures. Shipping includes insurance and is higher outside of the USA. Add $10 for shipments to Washington, Oregon, and California. (Sorry…the Postal Service has gotten very pricey for cross country trips.) Thanks for looking.
