This sale if for the frame with no fork. The bottom bracket and seat binder bolt with cantilever brake cable guide also come with the sale. I am the original owner of this bike. It has been in storage in my garage for decades. I thought I might restore it some day, but realistically I just don't have the time.
I believe that they made 6 different sizes for this bike. If my memory serves m...e correct this was the larger of the two medium sized frames (size 49cm C-to-T). The important measurements are below:
Seat tube measures approximately 19" from center of BB to top of top tube (approximately 18.5" center to center)Top Tube length measures 22.5" (center of head tube to center of seat tube)FRAME CONDITION:
The frame is used but in pretty good condition. There are paint chips, rub marks and scratches consistent with usage of a 1990's era rigid mountain bike. Also, I can see some rust in the scratches & paint chips, and around some of the lugs.
There is paint removal on the right chainstay where chainsuck occurred. The chainstay also has slight denting in that area. It is not easy to see but if you rub your finger along the area, you can feel it.
Also, the bottom of the headtube where the lower headset race inserts is slightly "ovalized". This was a common problem for these bikes, and light weight steel bikes with 1" headsets in general. You won't see any damage in the picture that I have included but if you insert the lower headset cup in the frame it will be a little loose. If you haven't been around mountain biking long enough and are unfamiliar with this problem, or the term "ovalized", please do an Internet search. If you are thinking of buying a Bridgestone, or any other older steel mtb, you should be aware of this issue, since it was very common. At one point, in the earlier 2000's, Chris King even had a headset that fit further into the frame to address the ovalization issues they were seeing on dirt jumpers and certain mountain bikes. I believe they called it the Steelset but it only came in a 1 1/8" size (the standard at that time). There are solutions to this problem. I believe the most common was using JB Weld or something similar to bond the lower cup in place (use a good headset because it might be permanent). I personally would probably use Gorilla Glue since it expands to fill gaps. If you put the whole thing together and let it dry, the cup should be in straight and the glue will dry and expand to fill the space needed.
The bottom bracket is very rough and has seized up. It spins but only with considerable force. I am leaving it on and including it with the sale only because it is the original Tioga BB and someone might want it and be able to restore parts of it.
There are not other dents, dings or problems with the bike that I know of.
Please see the pictures and consider them part of the description. Ask questions if you have any. If you would like me to send you more pictures of any part of the bike, please ask.
NOTE: I CANNOT SHIP THIS TO A PO BOX SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PAYPAL SHIPPING ADDRESS IS A PHYSICAL ADDRESS BEFORE PURCHASING.
