Here is an amazing guitar with tons of potential - it’s a 1929 Martin 0-18 in Koa!!! The wood is absolutely stunning. The only really scary thing to whomever is going to fix this guitar is the bridge situation. Somebody tried to glue the bridge on with a mystery adhesive. I’ve been doing this for a long time and I have no idea what kind of glue was used. And it left some reddish smears on the top around the bridge. S...omeone is going to have to be very conservative, go slowly, mask everything off, try solvents and surgical skills to get it all taken off without hurting the guitar but I’m sure it can be done. There is also a gauge in the top just below the bridge - left by whomever did the bridge reglue. Everything else is straight forward to a good luthier. It needs a neck reset, there is a crack extending south of the bridge (very common with koa), and there’s a small side crunch. I was planning on keeping it set up for Hawaiian just because very few have survived without being converted to Spanish style. If you were to do a Spanish conversion I’d highly recommend doing it right and use bar frets. The original bar frets are there but they are ground completely flat to the board. I guess you could save the ‘board and make a new fretboard slotted for T frets - if you want to make it Spanish and give someone the option to go back to the original set up. Anyhow, it’s a fanatic guitar and the inside is clean as a whistle. There is some bellying but I think it’ll be better once the bridge has been properly removed and reset. But it’s there. Serial number 38xxx Look at the pics. Sold as-is. P.s - I want you to know where these things are coming from. I've been an eBay member since 1998(!) - please check my feedback. I don't want you to have any unhappy surprises (I know how much I hate them) so I really try to over describe every little flaw or issue so that nobody is disappointed. And so that any surprises you might have are happy ones. Cool?I don't search things out to buy just to flip them on eBay. I've been a musician and instrument collector (cornet, mandolin, tenor guitar, guitar..) for the past 37 years and a luthier for the past 30 years or so. I'm not a hobbyist-luthier – it's what I do for a living. I run a very successful shop by day. So when I sell an instrument it's usually one that I've personally sought out (I know the good stuff to look for) and owned for a long time and I'm just making room for new ones or ones that have been recently completed - I try to maintain an equilibrium. I have owned and played literally hundreds of cornets and mandolins and guitars over the years. So you can be confident that I know what I'm talking about..Lastly, I only ship within the United States. Sorry – I've just had some really bad experiences both buying and selling overseas. No exceptions (well except for Canada – I have a soft spot for Canada). Thank you! Please don't wait to the last second to ask me questions. I'm always happy to answer them.
