Spectacular Stanley Bedrock 607c type 3 jointer plane. This one is truly special, clean, with original japanning, no rust, no damage, flat sole, original tote and knob in excellent condition. The type 3 dates from 1900 to 1908 according to online research (check out Bob Kaune’s bedrock plane type study if you haven’t come across it before.) I have been using it with perfect results for a couple of years now with an after-market Hock iron and chip breaker but I am selling it with th...e Stanley iron and chip breaker that came with it when I got it. This jointer will work as well as any high end jointer plane you can think of, and holding it in your hands you can sense its history and all the stories it must have accumulated over the last 111+ years. A previous owner has etched four small “o’s” low on the sides by the frog and 5 small “x’s” on the back edge of the heel, and these are shown in the pictures. These are really the only marks of the plane’s long history and you have to look for them to see them. I look at them as a historical detail of interest, a craftsman marking his special tool so it wouldn’t “walk away” with another worker in a busy shop. It is in as good of a shape as I have ever come across in a plane this old and it will easily perform for another 200 years if taken care of as every owner so far seems to have done.
