This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by Meissen in the 1860s. It has the first quality underglaze crossed swords mark. It measures 9 ¾ inches in diameter and is 1 ¾ inches high. The 1 ½ inch reticulated rim is intricately designed with panels of tiny flower buds that are hand painted and gilded. The center of the plate has a scene of men at a tavern eating, drinking and having conversation. The painting is so realistic you can see the expressions on th...eir faces. It is enclosed in an ornate gilded frame. There is a band of lacy gilding just inside the reticulated border. Even the back of the plate has elaborate hand gilding. This plate provides a view of what life was like back then. CONDITION: Excellent, 1st Quality
