1914 $5 Large US Fed Res Bank Note With A Blue Seal, And A $1 Silver Certificate
Item History & Price
Authorized by the Federal Reserve Act of December 24, 1913, this Series 1914 $5 Dollar Large US Federal Reserve Note was issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Known as "horse blankets" because of gits large size, this bill shows its age with creases and wear apparent. In the center crease there is a small slit from Lincoln's chin to the right side of his lip that allows light to shine through when held to a light source. In the center of the Federal Reserve ...Seal is 2-B that may designate the series of the bill. On the right-hand side is a blue seal with "THESAUR*AMER*SEPTENT*SIGIL" lettered around the central field that contains a key and scales of justice. It is signed by Frank White as Treasurer of the United States and A.W. Mellon as Secretary of the Treasury. On the reverse is a rendition of Columbus's Discovery of Land on the left and The Landing of the Pilgrims on the right. Also included in this offer is a One Dollar Silver Certificate, Series 1928A. Signed by N.O. Woods as Treasurer of the United States and A.W. Mellon as Secretary of the Treasury. The reverse has "One Dollar" superimposed over the word "One". The condition is relatively good considering its age and is no worse for wear than many "singles" printed much later. These bills are still Legal Tender, but unfortunately you cannot exchange the Silver Certificate for One Silver Dollar, as it says under the portrait of George Washington. In much better condition than the one offered here, the $5 Note would be worth over $100 according to the Littleton Coin Company's description. Shipped by USPS First Class.
