Original Description:
UPDATE> this will probably be the last time I am able to run this auction. And it is most definitely the last price drop. This is a really cool piece of aviation history and I hope it finds its way into the proper hands! If it does not find its way into your hands it will be donated to an aviation museum.
Wow! We are cleaning out the estate of a recently deceased Pentagon worker that did a lot of work on quite a few important military helicopter projects. Inside an old file box l...abeled "desk" we have found a lot of rare militaria materials including this 16 mm film meant to be released for television on September 22nd 1970 at noon. The film appears to be a press release on the Prototype S-67 Blackhawk helicopter. Only one of these helicopters were made and it crashed 3 years later and never saw any action and was never produced. The film appears to be unused, or very well kept. Its original little strip of tape was in place and it was in it's little cardboard film box that appears to be untampered with. Folded up inside the box with the film reel was what appears to be a document explaining what the audio says or what is to be scripted with this film as well as a numbered list of shots that can be found on this film. The top of this document reads "FOR RELEASE 12 NOON SEPT. 22, 1970" - "S-67 TELEVISION CLIP". And then the document explains each shot numbered 1 through 10 and has a paragraph that is titled 'AUDIO'. We looked all over the Internet and could not find a video of this film. There is no telling if any more copies of this film were produced or if it ever actually aired on television or wherever it was meant to be viewed. There are very few videos of the helicopter available on the internet and none of them matched anything close to this in particular script that is included. We do not have a 16 mm film player and we are not film experts so we are unsure if this film has actual audio with it or if this script is what was meant to be said while the film played on television. When looking at examples of different types of 16mm film it does look like the type of strip that suggests it has magnetic or optical audio. We have included the picture we used for study as the final photo in this auction. We are not guaranteeing that this film has audio and you should take a look at the photographs yourself to get a better idea of exactly what you are receiving. The film itself measures 16 mm wide and the reel that it is on measures 93 mm total. The film fills up about 78 mm of the reel. We carefully unrolled about 5 feet of film while carefully suspending it in air and not touching any of it! We saw the first few frames and we snapped a picture of the frames to better help you identify if this film has audio or not and to confirm that there is a helicopter in view on the frames. One of us have the tape end and one of us held the real and we stretched out across the living room and never let the film touch anything but air, re-rolled it immediately and put it back in its box.Included in this auction is the 16 mm film reel, the release paperwork seen in photographs and a 14" x 11.25" photograph of the one and only S-67 helicopter ever produced. The photograph is in fair condition but it does have some crinkled corners and some slight discolorations. It is on nice glossy Kodak paper. The photograph was found in the same file box as the film. The only reason we are not accepting returns is because we do not want someone to copy this film and then return it to us however you are still protected by eBay's Buyer Protection Program and if there is anything wrong with the film you can easily return it for a full refund.
