WWI USMC Marine Helmet ID’d 2nd Reg, 5th BN, 2/5. Condition is Used. British Brodie with "5th Regt/ 2nd Batln" Indian on front with EGA device above, fully ID'd. In the headband on the Indian is "FOB", which stands for "Private Frank O'Berry", SN 5616854(Army), who enlisted Aug 2, 1918 in 47th Co./5th marines, joined 43rd Co, 5th Regt, 2nd Batln of Marines on Nov 1, 1918. He participated in the March to the Rhine on Nov 19th to 30th, 1918. has liner (FAIR-GOOD), no chin strap. Helmet... shows good honest use after it was painted. It was a way of identifying your helmet without being obvious (only the emblem was allowed on helmets when worn). I did have some research on this marine but at the time of this listing I have not been able to find it.
