Authentic antique larger (approx. 2-1/4” tall with bale and ring) Western European Roman Catholic Crucifix. The metal frame of the Crucifix appears to have been hand made from bronze or similar copper alloy. It has visible file marks from hand grinding tools left by the maker. The frame is inlaid with black insert that appears to be stained leather or resin. The body of Christ with Halo with the Crown of Thorns and the "INRI" plate are attached to the black inlay with separate miniat...ure connector "nails" representing the Crucifixion. The "INRI" part is moving around the connector. Origin likely c. 19th century Western Europe. The metal frame and black inlay show signs of wear and aging that may include deformations, scratches or superficial cracks, dents, spots of discoloration and patina.
