Overall very good condition. But PLEASE see last image, has had this thread fungus all the time I've owned it -I hate it when they say does not affect image... but see for yourself here and on flickr images from this lens TODAY.
Had this lens a while but I'm upgrading [now I've been officially retired a while] to Sony A7R iii... and iv so feel it's time I upgraded to a G series macro lens....
Take a look here and on flickr for higher resolution images taken today, in the dull rainy day - several at wide open f3.5.
Now I've done these test shots I begin to wonder why I'm selling it..... HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU SEE HIGHER RES IMAGES ON FLICKR inc I think one from the Sony 100mm MACRO for comparison. https://www.flickr.com/photos/minolta4me-kevin/
THANKS EBAY FOR REMOVING THE LINK WHICH IS THERE ONLY SO PEOPLE CAN SEE HIGH RES IMAGES - HOW DO YOU EXPECT US TO SHOW HOW GOOD A LENS IS WHEN YOU CAN NOT SHOW FILES THAT LARGE ? google original Kevin Burton for flickr images....
To those who inquired about shipping to Hong Kong and the reduction in the thread fungus see below
EBAY NO LONGER SHOWS QUESTIONS AND THE ANSWERED !
YET ANOTHER Ebay WASTE OF TIME - I replied to many enquiries and "published" the answers only to now find out ebay does not show them to help other viewers WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME Ebay should be ashamed of it self !
At 180mm it's a rarity for macro and better for bugs and stuff.... at you are not so close.... it was originally for film, so covers FULL FRAME sensor and with crop sensor feels like an even longer macro !
If like me you enter competitions you can see this lens "performs" exceptionally well, so as a budget option starts at a bargain price.
But I am determined to gradually upgrade to G and GM lenses and prime when I can....
NO RETURNS but images are of the actual lens and EXAMPLE [how many do not do that] taken today, both here on ebay and flickr.
Google Original Kevin Burton flickr.
Used on Sony Alpha mount bodies, APSc A77 ii and even my NEX 6 too using APSc size sony LA-EA2 adaptor which gives AF . And on FULL FRAME FE mount bodies A99 ii and A7R iii using both LA-EA3 and LA-EA4.
This lens is so good I am going to try this.... an ARTICLE FROM THE INTERNET!
How to clean lens fungus without opening itThis is a sensible start, but it won’t satisfy you entirely. You can’t ‘clean’ fungus from a lens
without physically removing it – but you can prevent it from growing even more. All you need to do is find a windowsill that gets a lot of direct sunlight, and isn’t likely to be
disturbed by cats, children or curious visitors. Simply take the front lens caps off your lens but keep the back one on. Open your aperture
as wide as it will go and then pop it in the sun for a few weeks. The UV rays in the sun act as a natural fungicide and should kill off any living organisms
on the lens but it’ll take a few weeks.Only had 1 afternoon of sunshine so early to tell but certainly no more growth over the years but
possibly some reduction ? will report back if we get any more sun ;-)
On 25-Aug-20 at 09:39:01 BST, seller added the following information:HI - APOLOGIES in the 2 days where we had a bit of Sunshine I propped the lens up to dose it with sunlight - It does even in those few hours each day seem to have reduced any threads of fungus, so I recommend you carry on with that whenever you get any sunshine ;-)
BUT it fell off it's perch on the window ledge and broke the filter..... no other damage but I searched and have not got a 72mm one to replace it - SO YOU ARE BIDDING WITHOUT THE FILTER NOW - sorry
