Zeiss, Jena D.F. 7x50 gas mask serial number 2070141 showssubtle variations from most models. It has hard eyecups versus the rubber rolldown variety, has a different hinge end on ocular side, and is marked BONr 5and Sr 215 on left-hand prism plate. There is a reticle on right-hand side.D.F. 7x50 gas mask binoculars were produced with hugediameter eye lenses (23mm) to oblige use while wearing gas masks, which makesviewing quite enjoyable. This pair, while still clear enough to be used, ...wouldcertainly benefit from a service to remove haze and general lubrication. Atsome point in their service life, the covering on the barrels was replaced withfiner patterned leather (please see photos). The central hinge and individualfocusers work, though the right hand one is quite stiff. There are no prismchips, fungus, or collimation issues.
