Up for sale is an excellent example of a classic manual focus prime by Fuji, the Fujifilm 50mm f/1.6.
Note: this is the uncommon version with METAL DOF scale ring. On most examples of this lens, this ring is made of brittle plastic that tends to break. The use of metal in this example eliminates this point of failure.
This lens has become something of a cult classic for its combination of classic Fuji rendering with bizarre and swirly Bokeh (Out of Focus A...rea) effects!
This lens features the extremely versatile Pentax/Praktica m42 screw mount, which is adaptable to almost any digital format, including Nikon, Canon EF, m4/3, Sony A7/Nex, and m4/3 through the use of inexpensive adapter rings.
Excellent overall condition with light to moderate handling wear. Glass free of scratches/haze/fungus.Lens has been fully disassembled and CLAed (Cleaned/Lubed/Adjusted) with full modern grease replacement of helical lubricaiton for ultimate performance. Metering lug has been removed and aperture stop added for full usability on DSLR.
This lens has been MODDED to remove the so-called Fuji Metering lug, which can interfere with infinity focus when adapted to certain digital systems, particularly Pentax K and has also had a reversible stop inserted into the aperture metering pin, meaning it will allow full manual stop down operation on all adapted systems! If you'd like the stop removed in order to let it be used on a native m42 camera, let me know, and I wil ldo so before mailing.
This particular example is in excellent condition with light exterior wear, good mechanics and glass free of scratches, haze, and fungus. It also has been CLAed (Cleaned/Lubed/Adjsuted) with full helical relube for maximum performance!
CLA FAQ
Q Why CLA?Even "mint"-appearance vintage lenses typically collect significant amounts of grime introduced into their interiors through regular use. Additionally, they typically use lubricating greases that break down and separate over time, allowing oil to creep onto and slow delicate aperture blades or to outgas and cause hazing or create a substrate upon which fungus can grow Unless you find an original boxed and well-stored sample, chances are that this kind of contamination is already in your lens, even if it hasn't exhibited symptoms yet.
Q: What services do you performon the lens before sale? With the lens disassembled, I perform afull CLA (Clean Lube Adjust). This entails cleaning out any internaland external soiling, cleaning aperture blades of grease that can slowing, re-lubing the focus helical (even seemingly fine "mint" vintage lenses typically have grit and degraded grease in their helicals), and adjusting allcomponents for tightness and accuracy. Where there is extensive dustor internal lens soiling, I will disassemble lens cells and clean offsurfaces; however, it is my general philosophy to keep lens elementsin their factory position when at all possible to ensure optimumperformance. Q: DUST? What do you mean DUST?A: Allvintage lenses have dust in them. In fact, they had dust in them whenthey were brand new from the factory! This is because prior tothe advent of very modern sealed designs, lenses were not puttogether in a clean room environment, and the natural static chargeof the glass tends to attract dust particles. Coupled with the opendesigns used in these lenses, it is virtually impossible to find anyvintage lens without some degree of dust particles visible when youlook closely through the lens. All of my CLA lenses have at minimum theexterior internal cell surfaces wiped with a dust-free, lab-gradeoptical tissue and then blown off with an air bulb prior toreassembly and thus have a significantly below average amount of dust for a vintagelens.
